Ubong Essien, Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has completed his tenure on the assignment with a note of gratitude to his principal.
Essien, who thanked Jamoh for entrusting him with the responsibility of communications management and strategy development, thanked the NIMASA DG for the opportunity to serve described the NIMASA DG as a driven and relentless goal getter, and a technocrat with deep knowledge of the maritime industry spanning three decades.
Essien, who has resumed as Dean of the School of Eloquence, a position he held before his tenured appointment in NIMASA described his experience in the agency as an opportunity to learn more.
He also commended his former boss for breaking new grounds in the maritime sector by leading the agency into positive advocacy on blue economy; actualizing ground-breaking feats like the enactment and subsequent assent by the president of the Suppression of Piracy and Other Maritime Offences (SPOMO) Act; the Deep Blue project that has helped in almost eradicating piracy in Nigerian waters and other achievements
“My experience working under Dr Jamoh has further exposed me to new things about the workings of the Nigerian Maritime industry at the highest level of governance and from the foremost regulator’s perspective and NIMASA’s relationship with the burgeoning stakeholders.
“At NIMASA, I saw myself working with a diverse crop of Nigerians and interacting with the public service culture, an experience that will be invaluable as I exit the agency to carry on with my assignment as the Dean of the School of Eloquence, where I teach and coach public speaking and communication skills to top executives, working professionals, business leaders, heads of organizations and the political class.
“My interface with various sub sectors of the Nigerian Maritime industry was keenly engaging, interactive and very enlightening
“I must also add that the maritime press corps made my job easier by being supportive and giving NIMASA the desired objectivity, fairness, truthfulness and balance in a professional manner” Essien said in Lagos.
He urged NIMASA employees and other stakeholders in the industry to always support the DG in his assignments.
